Family-Friendly Fun: Tips for Taking Kids to Universal Orlando

Are you thinking about taking a trip to Universal Orlando as a part of your family vacation? Then you’ll want to know some tips for when traveling with children. Universal Orlando is a fantastic time, especially if you’re a Muggle visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Hogwarts. If you want this to be a successful and exciting trip, you should continue reading. I will point out all the benefits of why Universal Orlando should be added to your plans, and tips for taking those children along with you.

For starters, staying at a Universal Orlando Resort can be a great way to start your vacation. Not only do they have numerous amounts of family suites to accommodate everyone. Some are also themed to some of your favorite movies, such as Jurassic World and Despicable Me. Do you share a love for music? Then you’ll definitely want to check out the family suites over at the Hard Rock Hotel. By staying at a Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll gain early park admission at select parks. This means you’ll gain an extra hour of fun before everyone else. A few of the hotels will even add in the express pass feature just for booking a stay with them. These are a MUST-HAVE, for you’ll get to skip the long lines and go right into the express entrance. That means, the kids will constantly be on the go. They will not be standing in lines for hours on end. Which also means plenty more rides to enjoy each day. With purchasing park tickets, you will see many options. Sometimes even some great promotions. Who doesn’t love these? Universal Orlando has three parks; Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. Now if you are a Harry Potter fan, then you’ll want to get the park-to-park pass so that you can ride the Hogwarts Express Train. Not only will the kids love this form of transportation getting over to the other park, but you will as well. It’s a very magical added experience.

Speaking of Harry Potter, the magic wands that are available to purchase are extraordinary. And I’m not exaggerating. They each are based on the characters in the books and movies. You can interact throughout the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with some window displays. The kids will go from being a muggle to experienced wizards in no time. You’ll want to go down Diagon Alley and find the Ollivander’s Wand Shop.

Now onto the rides, as explained earlier purchasing the Express Pass will be a much-needed bonus feature if it’s not already included with your resort stay. This allows you to bypass all those long lines for most of the rides. If you get the unlimited express pass, then you can enjoy one of your favorite rides multiple times. There are a lot of rides and attractions that have a higher height requirement, so you will want to keep that in mind before booking. There still is a decent amount of rides for the smaller kids to enjoy, along with a playground at both Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure. Keep in mind that the rides also offer a child swap, so that the adults can still enjoy a roller coaster or two.

While having a cool-down day at Volcano Bay, you’ll receive Tapu Tapu bands. These are great and convenient features for the water slides and more. Rather than waiting in lines, Universal’s Volcano Bay has a virtual line system. All you have to do is scan your Tapu Tapu band. Instead of waiting you now can enjoy a swim in the wave pool, or even just relax on a lounge chair or down the lazy river. The Tapu Tapu band will let you know when it’s your time to enjoy the ride. However, even at the resorts, you’ll have access to some fun poolside activities. You won’t want to miss out on it.

Looking for some dining options? You’ll have a ton of options over at Universal Orlando City Walk. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is simply to die for. Their milkshake desserts are displayed right in the entryway, and you’ll want to try one of these. Incredible for the entire family. You can also dine with some of your favorite Super Heroes inside Islands of Adventures. You’ll also see some delicious quick-service meals and tasty snacks throughout the parks.

If celebrating a special occasion, let the guest services know so they can make it even more special. Whether it’s celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, a honeymoon, or if it’s just your first time visiting. They will make sure to give you a pin, and you’ll notice the interactions from there. Also, keep an eye out for some of the characters throughout the park. They do have some amazing meet-and-greets. You’ll find the Transformers Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime, Spiderman, Captain America, Minions, Donkey from Shrek, and many more. These are unique and a special memory for the kids.

Now some added tips would be, to park a small bag for the parks. You won’t want to be lugging around a large bag throughout the day. When staying at the resorts, take advantage of the free merchandise delivery. This means anything you purchase can get delivered directly back to your room without having to carry it around all day. Arrive early to any shows, you’ll want to find a decent seat so that the kids can easily see. Also, look at your plans before arriving. Pick out some rides that you want to make sure to ride, especially ones that tend to have longer wait times. You’ll want to go to these rides early in the day when you use the added feature of early park admission. Remember to bring some sunscreen, ponchos, hats/sunglasses, hand sanitizer, some snacks and small beverages, cash or cards, and your phone/camera. These small items can have you prepared for any type of weather, never missing out on a moment, and keeping the kids safe and still healthy.

Universal Orlando Studios tailors not only to children but to adults as well. Visiting here is a must, for everyone. From being in person and witnessing Hogsmeade and Hogwarts to the Suess Landing, capturing the moments of the Superheros and Fossils within Jurassic Park. All parks have so much to offer. So in conclusion, traveling with children to Universal Orlando Studio can be unforgettable for everyone. It also can be one of the greatest experiences you’ll encounter.
