Small Weekend Getaways: Travel Therapy

Adulting is hard. Growing up, it feels like no one prepares us for the real world of responsibility and exhaustion. Sometimes, we aren’t leaving any time for ourselves each week. That’s why taking a small weekend getaway is necessary once in a while. It helps us refresh the mind, recoup our bodies, and reenergize the soul. Doesn’t need to be anything extravagant. Just a simple getaway where you make no plans. You can feel the sun, let loose with some retail therapy, or even just order some room service and lay back to enjoy a movie. By the end of the trip, you’ll feel more relaxed. Some even say it helps to live a stress-free life. Think about how you feel after traveling. Your everyday focus seems to be improved. You’re refreshed and ready to start your normal routine again.

Small simple getaways can include the beach with a nice ocean view room, the mountains in a cozy warm cabin, or even in a busy area where there are fun activities, shopping, and events going on. Sometimes even the most random, last-minute trips are the best. They’re not planned at all. You just pack a quick weekend bag, hop in the car and go. Those also lead to some of the best memories.

When considering taking these weekend getaways, think about timing as well. If you don’t mind crowded areas, or find a place that has availability yet is still secluded, then consider a holiday weekend. You’ll typically have off that Monday, so you can enjoy a longer getaway. Now a lot of the time, holiday weekends can also result in a larger crowded area. Depending on what type of weekend getaway you’re looking for, this may not be for you. However, if you want more events and activities going on, then that’s the time to go. Typically, there’s something to do or an event going on during busier times of the year.

Take it from me, I always grew up with a gypsy soul. My grandmother would even call me her little gypsy because I’m always ready to go and explore. Something about having that mindset to wake up, pack up for a couple of days, and just go, makes you feel happier with more energy. You’ll also feel calm and more relaxed than before. So if you want to take this advice and book a weekend getaway, or just decide last minute to pick up and go for a couple of days, then you absolutely should!!! Because what makes us feel better, can also make us feel stronger!

Attached are a few great traveling essentials for those weekend getaways. Sometimes getting a new weekender bag with extra storage bags, a carry-on size suitcase, and a cute shower hanging bag with compartments, builds up that excitement.
